Quadro
graphics adapters. What is a Quadro card, and
why would i want to change my Geforce into one?
Quadro cards are professional graphicscards, with improved OpenGL
support and dedicated drivers for some 3d applications like
3dsmax and Maya.
If you are a graphicsdesigner or are involved in CAD/CAM or
3d animation and you want some more power, then you should consider
converting your Geforce.
If you are Gamer on the other hand, leave this page, because
it will in fact decrease your performance in Direct 3d a little.
What
do I need to perform the modification? There are two possibilities.
Some cards can be modded by soldering some resistor. However
that method is obsolete, because there is a software util, called
Softquadro (it is built in Rivatuner 2 RC 7 or higher), that
will bring the same result.
How
to do the conversion?
1. Format your Harddisk (if needed)
and Install a fresh Windows (Win2k preferably). Do NOT choose
a graphicsadapter yet.
2.
unpack the Detonator drivers to a folder. Choose right version
for your OS
3. Unpack and Run RivaTuner.
4. Click the 'poweruser' tab/ Select the third icon from the
left name, and select the Softquadro antiprotecion.rts script
(select the right one for your OS). Browse for the promted
file in the folder where you unpacked the detonator drivers.
You will receive a message if everything goes well or fails.
5. Repeat step 4, only this time select the regular Softquadro
script (again the right one for your OS). Select the file
promted this time (a different file this time, but in the
same folder where you unpacked your Detonator drivers) and
select the Quadro model you want to force (depending on your
card for example Force Quadro DCC, please see the above table)
select to continue. Again you will be noticed if things are
allright.
6.
Go to the devicemanager and select your videoadapter (after
a clean install it should say Standard VGA or something like
that). Select properties and update driver. Now choose to
give a location. Browse to the folder with the patched drivers
and select show all hardware. Now Select the model you want
to install (see table). For Example Quadro DCC. Windows will
prompt you to reboot your system.
7. It's done! Go to your display properties, it should show
your new Quadro model. Also check out the OpenGL tab, this
should have some extra presets. Now you can install the Elsa
Maxtreme drivers.
8. Good luck!
